This workshop is for beginners or intermediates and is limited to 6 students and requires 30 to 40 hours time to complete.  You can come in 3 or 4 hour sessions, all day or for 5 straight days.

At one time or another all of us have broken a favorite tea cup, the last piece in your grandmother’s cherished china set or basically any other piece of china you love and you feel terrible as you throw them into the trash. You can now memorialize its pieces in a beautiful crafts project rather than having to toss them out with the trash and feel guilty about it. The ability to rescue broken objects and transform them into something beautiful, different, and new can be very satisfying and I like it because it reduces the waste that ends up in the landfills every year. Plus these projects make wonderful, unique and original gifts for anyone in your family. I put them on key chains or tie tacks for the guys or jewelry for the gals.

You will need to bring your pieces of shard or a plate or cup that you intend to break and immortalize or we will supply some and we will supply the rest of the materials and teach you how to foil, solder and add jewelry findings and you will create 12 to 13 pieces of jewelry.

After many years of requests for a Lead Channel Workshop, Avalon Stained Glass School and Creativity Center is pleased to announce that our instructor, award winning International stained glass artist, Carl Correll will be offering a 4 day Lead Channel stained glass workshop.

We are offering the patterns from Beginning Patterns II and you will have 18 of them to choose from.

The panel size you will create will be 10” wide and 16” high and it will be a perfect size to hang in any window of your home and office.

We offer this workshop two ways. You many come in and stay at Avalon’s Creativity Center for 4 straight days and create your leaded panel or you may start any week and finish at your own pace in 3 hour sessions.

Workshop fee is $399.00 and includes all instruction, all material, your pattern and the use of our studio tools. NOTHING ELSE TO BUY! You must bring your own apron, safety glasses and please no long loose hair or open toe shoes or sandals please. Any one who is not a staying student and who plans to work all day should consider bringing a brown bag lunch.

5-7 Day Stained Glass Lamp Workshop

OUR 5-7 DAY STAINED GLASS LAMP VACTION WORKSHOP begins on Monday and continues through Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm. However, should you require a day or two extra to finish your project; you may have them at no extra charge. Most students finish in 4 to 5 days. The daily schedule allows for that. Classes begin promptly each day at 9 am until noon, break for lunch which is provided, return at 1 pm. until 5 pm, break for supper on your own and then you can rest for the evening or feel free to come back into the studio at 6 pm. and work up until 8 p.m.

We also offer this workshop to local students who want to break it up into 3 or 4 hour session 1 or more times a week at both our convenience.

CLASS SIZE is strictly limited to no more than four students to provide as much one-on-one training as possible. Each student will produce a well-crafted stained glass lamp from one of our 11 “tried and true” patterns.

Each lamp should have 70-80 cut pieces of glass. Each lamp will be an original custom design, reflecting the subject choice and taste of the student. When you are finished you will have a beautiful art nouveau stained glass lamp that will grace your home and become a family heirloom. Should you wish your base to be a floor lamp let us know when you register as floor lamp bases will add an additional $100.00 to your workshop fee.

ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE intensive training in glass design, pattern making, glass cutting, soldering and finishing techniques. Avalon’s goal is to help each student achieve a sustainable proficiency in each of the various technical skills required for stained-glass crafting. When finished you will know enough to teach this workshop yourself!

YOUR WORKSHOP FEE INCLUDES all of the materials, patterns, glass and supplies you will use in creating your lamp. Occasionally, a student may choose some special components such as jewels, agates, or special glass that may cost a little extra.
